EDITION
The International Film Festival KINOKI is proud to announce that enrollments are available from June 24th to September 9th. Kinoki is reahing out for university students from all around the world to share their short films to participate in the 18th edition of this festival.
Kinoki is organized and produced by the students of Universidad Iberoamericana (IBERO)in Mexico City Campus since 2004 with the intention of creating an environment where students all around the world can have the possibility of showing their cinematographic work while competing in 3 different categories.
We expect however, to offer an interaction place where national and international filmmakers can create a strong and passionate community.
The 18th edition of the International Film Festival KINOKI will take place from October 9th to October 11th in Universidad Iberoamericana (IBERO), Mexico City Campus and alternate venues.
ABOUT US
The Kinoki Festival emerged in 2004 as an internal project of the Cinema area in the Communication major at Ibero, with the intention of having a space where they could reflect their vision of reality through their cinematographic works. In this way, the term “Cinema-Eye” was taken up by the Soviet filmmaker Dziga Vertov , who said that the human eye is the best camera to reflect reality. With this philosophy, Kinoki starts as the first university film exhibition within the Ibero. Given the success and excitement conveyed by the project, more universities began to be invited to collaborate with their work, having an international impact. This gave life to the International University Film Festival, Kinoki.
The festival has been held since then year after year by Ibero students, except in 2014 and 2023, creating a framework so that students from the different participating universities around the world can exhibit their work while competing in the official selection of the festival. Likewise, it is about generating a meeting point between professionals from the national and international film industry, with students from Ibero and other universities.
In 2022, the call for the 17th edition of the festival was opened, but unfortunately it could not be carried out for reasons beyond the control of Ibero, so in this new 18th edition to be held in October 2024, the winners will also be awarded. of 2022.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM KINOKI?
The official selection will be screened at the festival and there will be masterclasses, workshops and open exhibitions .
Don't miss the opening ceremony and closing party! There the university community will be able to socialize and connect with several people with the same interests.
The winners of the 17th Edition of the KINOKI International Film Festival will also be awarded in this edition. The official selection of the 17th Edition will also be announced in September 2024. Only the winners of the last edition will be screened, however the entire Official Selection will have a laurel and a certificate.
The selected films will be broadcast for the duration of the festival and will be open for the public to vote for the Audience Award.
